- Start your journey from a station or hotel in Osaka City and head to Shirahama, a renowned resort destination in the Nanki Shirahama area. Shirahama Onsen, one of the Three Ancient Hot Springs of Japan, is particularly famous and draws many tourists throughout the year. Enjoy a relaxing resort trip filled with beautiful sights and unforgettable experiences.

- Toretore Market (approx. 1.5 hours)
- This is the largest market in the prefecture, offering a wide range of fresh seafood, locally grown vegetables, and premium meats. The market is also home to many restaurants perfect for lunch, and you can also purchase fresh ingredients to eat on the spot. One of the most popular attractions here is the live tuna-cutting show, where skilled chefs expertly dismantle an entire tuna—truly a display of craftsmanship.
There is also a BBQ area where you can grill the market’s fresh ingredients yourself or enjoy a special BBQ menu prepared with market delicacies. In addition, there are services for shipping your purchases via refrigerated delivery, a souvenir section, and even an amusement area—making it more than just a lunch stop.

- After filling your stomach at the market, it’s time to visit a scenic coastal area unique to the region.

- Shirarahama Beach (approx. 20 mins)
- This beach, which lends its name to Shirahama, is selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Beaches. Its 620-meter-long stretch of pure white sand contrasts beautifully with the emerald-green sea, creating a breathtaking view. While swimming is available during the summer season, this plan is focused on a relaxing walk along the shore.

- Leaving behind the symbolic beach, it’s time to head to a historic hot spring.

- Saki-no-Yu Onsen (approx. 30 mins)
- Saki-no-Yu is one of Japan’s Three Ancient Hot Springs, with records dating back to the Asuka and Nara periods. The open-air bath is so close to the ocean that on rough weather days, waves may splash into the tubs—giving the impression that the sea and the bath are connected. You can soak in comfortably warm water while enjoying stunning ocean views.

- Next, you’ll head to a spectacular natural landmark.

- Sandanbeki Cliffs (approx. 1 hour)
- The Sandanbeki Cliffs rise 60 meters high and offer a powerful view of the Kuroshio Current crashing against the rocks. Also known as a “Lovers’ Sanctuary,” couples often attach padlocks to a heart-shaped monument near the observatory to symbolize eternal love. Beneath the cliffs lies a cave once used to hide ships, allowing you to experience the atmosphere of the late Heian period. It’s also said to be a power spot blessed by the water god.
Along the nearby “Sandan Street,” you'll find souvenir shops, restaurants, and even a free footbath spot—perfect for a short rest.

- After enjoying nature’s raw power, you’ll head into the underwater world.

- Shirahama Undersea Observation Tower (Coral Princess)
(approx. 30 mins) - This retro-style tower, located about 100 meters offshore from the hotel, lets you view the underwater world from a depth of 8 meters. You can enjoy 360-degree views of marine life native to the Shirahama sea, offering a rare, close-up experience of the natural ecosystem. There’s also a gift shop attached to the hotel, perfect for picking up souvenirs.

- After your underwater stroll, head to Shirahama’s most iconic spot.

- Engetsu Island (approx. 20 mins)
- This island, named for its distinctive circular hole in the middle (resembling a full moon), is a scenic marvel. During spring and autumn, the sun sets perfectly within the hole, earning the island a spot in Japan’s Top 100 Sunset Spots. It is a popular photo destination and a true symbol of Shirahama.
